Another 1,350 people looking for jobs today.
Why?
Because Autodesk fired them.
Their revenue? Up 12% to $1.64 billion.
Their reasoning? AI and cost-cutting efficiency.
But let’s be honest… this looks like a gift to shareholders.
I’ve built businesses on customer loyalty.
And layoffs don’t always work the way they think they do, especially for a company like Autodesk:
Sales teams bring in renewals.
Support teams keep clients from leaving.
AI helps with efficiency, but people count on people!
Shareholders love the savings!
But real business growth comes from cultivating relationships, not investing less in them.
They claim this is to move towards more of a “self-service” sales model … AKA “do it yourself dummy!”
That $1.64 billion could’ve been used to strengthen customer relationships, provide even better service, and pick away at up-and-coming competitors…not send 1,350 people scrambling to fix their resumes.
Good move or bad call?
